Bobby Reed · Rose State College

2023–Present · Reference & public service

Alongside teaching and technology work, I keep a foot in traditional librarianship at Rose State College -- providing reference and research help, supporting information literacy, and connecting students and community members with the resources they need. It keeps me close to the core public-service work that drew me to libraries in the first place.

The Role

A community college library is where a lot of people meet research for the first time. This role is the counterweight to my emerging-tech work: no headsets or 3D printers, just the fundamentals of helping a person find, evaluate, and use good information.

🔍

Reference & Research Help

Assist students and community members at the reference point, connecting them with the right resources for their questions.

📚

Information Literacy

Help patrons learn to find, evaluate, and use sources -- the durable skills behind good research.

🤝

Public Service

Meet people where they are, at a community college that serves a broad and diverse student body.
